Strategically located on the Dubai – Sharjah highway, Sahara Centre is undoubtedly one of Sharjah’s landmarks and the UAE’s complete family shopping and entertainment destination.
When it opened for Business in February 2002, the Sahara Centre was determined to make its mark. Officially inaugurated that month, it set a world record on its opening day with the longest ribbon ever wrapped around the building, some 4,500 metres (14,850 feet) in length. A ribbon-cutting event culminated in a spectacular fireworks display – and the sparks have kept on flying. For its grandeur opening, the Mall was honoured with the Maxi Award for the Best Opening of a shopping mall in the world.
